Man United don’t want Ronaldo back after World Cup

Manchester United don t want Cristiano Ronaldo back at their training centre of Carrington after the World Cup, according to Fabrizio Romano, and they re prepared to instruct the Portugal captain not to return in the wake of his highly controversial interview with Piers Morgan on Monday.

Apparently, this is just the first step they re taking to ensure his indiscretion does not pass without severe consequences; there is more to come.

It’s true that Manchester United are prepared to instruct Cristiano Ronaldo not to return to Carrington after World Cup, this is the plan as things stand.

This is one of the first steps after the interview — more will follow in the next days.

Tottenham to sign free agent Forster on two-year deal

Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Fraser Forster on a free transfer.

The 34-year-old will join at the start of July on a two-year deal once his Southampton contract officially expires.

Forster has spent the past eight years at St Mary s, albeit with a season on loan at Celtic in 2019-20, and made 134 appearances for the club in the Premier League.

That includes 19 top-flight outings last season when conceding 35 goals and keeping three clean sheets.

Tottenham confirmed the six-cap England international s imminent arrival on their official website on Wednesday.

We re looking forward to next season too, Fraser

Brazil 1-1 Senegal: Neymar´s 100th cap ends in draw

Brazil were unable to mark Neymar s 100th cap with a win as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Senegal in humid conditions in Singapore on Thursday.

Neymar has scored four goals in his past five matches for Paris Saint-Germain but was unable to continue that form with the Selecao, failing to convert any of the chances that came his way.

Brazil moved ahead early at the National Stadium through Roberto Firmino s cool finish, but Sadio Mane won a penalty that Famara Diedhiou dispatched before the break.

Tite s team struggled to work clear openings in the second half and are now winless in three games – their worst run since 2013.

Brazil took a ninth-minute lead when Gabriel Jesus skipped inside of Racine Coly and slid a throughball into the box that Firmino…

Dele Alli breaks his Everton duck at last and vows to show fight for Frank Lampard

Dele Alli ended a six-month wait for his first Everton goals and vowed to keep fighting to prove himself to boss Frank Lampard.

The former Tottenham and England star moved to Goodison Park in January, but struggled to make an impact at the sharp end of the pitch.

He made 11 appearances for the Toffees last season but only one start, and will be hoping to reset and win over manager Lampard in the new campaign.

A double from Alli in the 4-2 win at Blackpool on Sunday might count for little in the long run, given the game was a friendly, but for the 26-year-old Alli it marked a breakthrough moment.

I got two goals, so I m happy, said Alli.

He insisted Everton s progress in pre-season should not be judged on individual moments and was more about how…

Bayern consider Coutinho option

According to a recent report from Sport Bild, Bayern Munich are believed to be interested in making Philippe Coutinho’s loan deal from Barcelona permanent during next summer’s transfer window – but only if Mauricio Pochettino becomes the club’s new manager.

There’s no confirmation as to whether or not this is down to an admiration that Pochettino specifically has for the Brazilian, but either way, it’s certainly an interesting approach to have. Coutinho has had a decent enough start to life in Germany but still has a lot left to prove, especially after a poor year with Barcelona before making the move to Bayern.

There are still plenty of reasons for him to feel positive about his future, but it’s all about getting into the right sort of rhythm. Bayern …

Bartomeu blames Laporta for financial mismanagement and questions Neymar settlement

Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has accused successor Joan Laporta of badly managing the club s finances as the fallout surrounding Lionel Messi s departure continues.

Bartomeu, who stepped down as Barca chief in October 2020 after nearly seven years in the role, also questioned why Barca reached an out-of-court settlement with former player Neymar over money owed in an open letter to his successor.

Laporta pointed the blame at Barca s former board for leaving the club in such a bad financial mess that they were not able to fulfil an agreement with star player Messi over a new long-term deal.

However, commenting on Messi s high-profile exit for the first time, Bartomeu has insisted his planned economic measures would have helped Barcelona through …

Suarez grins at ´fake news´ ahead of next move

Luis Suarez referenced fake news on Wednesday as his future remains undecided amid talk of a transfer to Juventus.

New Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has reportedly told Suarez he can leave the club, a move that did not aid close friend Lionel Messi s strained relationship with the Blaugrana.

Suarez has been linked with a host of potential suitors including Ajax and Inter Miami but is said to be nearing a switch to the Serie A champions.

But the Uruguay international posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story as he continued to train with Barca.

Captioning a picture of him laughing, alongside a grinning emoji, Suarez wrote: When fake news comes out

Suarez is third on the list of Barca s all-time top goalscorers, trailing only Messi and second…

Kobel on Chelsea shopping list

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has met with the representatives of Gregor Kobel to hold discussions about a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge for the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper, according to German outlet Sport1.

Dortmund signed the 25-year-old shot-stopper from VfB Stuttgart in 2021 for a reported fee of €15million, and the Switzerland international signed a five-year contract back then, which means he ll have three years left on the deal when the ongoing season ends. With the club targeted for their best players for years now Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, and more recently Jude Bellingham, they will be reluctant to allow the trend to continue as they aim to challenge Bayern Munich at the top of German football on a more consistent basis.

Prediction: Liverpool vs Southampton

Best odds: 4/5

Bookmaker:

The World Cup is nearly upon us for the countries involved, this weekend, club football will dance its last dance before the controversial tournament in Qatar begins. On Saturday, Liverpool will welcome Southampton to Anfield as part of what is officially round 16 of the Premier League campaign, though no team has actually played 15 matches yet due to a whole round being postponed after the death of Queen Elizabeth II back in September.

Liverpool

For Liverpool, each game now feels crucial if they are to regain some ground in the race. Though their quest for the title has practically failed already, top-four placement is certainly still within reach. But it won t be easy; the competition is fierce and there s no more room for error.

Mohamed Salah closes in on 200 club as Liverpool confirm top spot

Liverpool cruised into the Europa League knock-out stages with a match to spare as a 4-0 victory over LASK confirmed their place as group winners.

Early goals from Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo were enhanced by a second-half Mohamed Salah penalty – his 199th goal for the club – and an added-time strike by Gakpo as Toulouse’s draw with Union Saint-Gilloise means a dreaded round-of-32 play-off was avoided.

That mere fact alone will have delighted manager Jurgen Klopp, whose pre-match press conference had been littered with references to the intense December period ahead, but a club-record 12 points in the group stage shows how dominant the tournament favourites have been.
